Christine has an extensive background in legal services and corporate governance, having provided legal and governance advice to not-for-profit entities, privately held corporations, financial institutions as well as private foundations, both in private practice and in-house. In her current role, she is responsible for providing legal and governance leadership to the subsidiaries of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and the CMA Foundation. She was formerly the manager of the Legal and Governance Teams at MD Financial, a for-profit financial services company which was wholly-owned by the CMA and was sold to The Bank of Nova Scotia in 2018. Each of these roles has involved creativity and innovation in establishing effective governance frameworks for the enterprise. Christine currently also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (Ontario Section) and serves as a mentor to in-house counsel in Ontario. Christine is a graduate of University of Ottawa, receiving her LL.B. in 1995 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1996. Dedicated to life-long learning and professional development, she also obtained the designation of Certified In-House Counsel (CIC.C) in 2018, her Partners, Directors and Senior Officers designation in 2012 and completed her Securities course in 2017. She is a strong believer in giving back to her community and has served in various capacities on a number of volunteer, not-for-profit boards in her community.
