Governance Manager, Vancity
Rachel Carswell is a Chartered Corporate Secretary and Governance Professional from Belfast, Ireland and holds the position of Governance Manager at Vancity Credit Union. Here, she supports Board meetings and helps to drive the continuous enhancement of Vancity’s corporate governance practices, policies, and procedures. Rachel provides the Board with best advice and guidance on a range of matters including education, board renewal and skills, evaluation, conflicts of interest, subsidiary governance, and regulatory disclosure.
Prior to Vancity, Rachel worked for WATSON Advisors as a Governance Analyst, as a Corporate Secretary and Legal and Compliance Consultant at a global tier one investment bank in the UK, and as a Corporate Secretary for an international fund managers based in Guernsey, Channel Islands. Rachel also brings experience from a global law firm where she worked primarily on large scale corporate disputes.
Rachel holds an LL.B. from the University of Manchester and a Masters of Science in Management and Corporate Governance from Ulster University. She is an Associate member of the Chartered Governance Institute and has previously sat on the Council of the Belfast Branch of the Chartered Governance Institute UK.
