How to Get to Whistler

Flying into Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

  • Most international and domestic travelers arrive at YVR. It's about a 2-hour drive from Vancouver to Whistler.

Flights to Whistler

Whistler doesn’t have an airport or an airstrip –You can still fly to Whistler by helicopter or floatplane – both fast, direct options with spectacular views. The floatplane option is the most affordable from the 2 options. You can find info on how to book a floatplane HERE (only available during warmer months when lake is clear of ice)

Closest Airport to Whistler

The closest major airport is Vancouver International (YVR), approximately 2.5 hours drive to Whistler. We’re also within 5 hours drive time of Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) and 3 hours of Bellingham International Airport (BLI) in Washington, USA which gives you other options to get to Whistler!

Driving to Whistler

  • Rental Cars: Available at YVR. The drive is scenic, along the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99).
  • Driving Directions: Head west on Grant McConachie Way E, continue to Arthur Laing Bridge/Marine Drive. Then take BC-99 N to Whistler.

Self-propelled transit is often the locals’ choice – in summer you can rent bikes and e-bikes and use the non-motorized Valley Trail to explore the Valley and get from lake to lake
