The New Culture of Documentation

How the 24-HOUR Rule and Other Untapped Documentation Skills Can Improve Your and Your Organization’s Productivity and Momentum

Imagine for a second that just 24 hours ago your team concluded a brilliant meeting. You glowed to think of the knotty solutions devised, the transformative ideas volunteered, and the monumental tasks taken on. Now imagine this: By the close of business, the particulars agreed upon at yesterday’s extraordinary session were but a dim memory overshadowed by today’s latest crisis.

Sound familiar?

In this high-energy talk, Adrienne Bellehumeur wastes no time in giving her audience a new secret weapon: The 24-Hour Rule. That is, you need to rewrite, reprocess, or rethink information within 24 hours of hearing it. Or quite simply, you need to do something with information within 24 hours…before …POOF…your short-term memory lets it go.

Today’s knowledge workforce is blessed with access to excellent tools, loads of information, and opportunities to learn. But the problem is: we don’t seize these opportunities (or, at least as well as we should). We can explain it because of lack of time or circumstances. But, in fact, there’s something more tactical—and practical—that leads us astray. We take information in, but we have no system or habit for getting information out—for using the knowledge we have to push work forward.

But when we learn The 24-Hour Rule and other secrets of documentation, we learn how to move on what we know and make knowledge useful. This presentation teaches you how to turn untapped documentation skills into a superpower to capture intellectual capital, drive momentum, and move to high performance.

This event is hosted by the Calgary Local Chapter. 1 Governance Education Credit (GEC) is available to those that attend.
