One of the most important duties of Boards and Senior Executive teams is governance and stewardship of your organization’s digital assets. You are responsible for ensuring reliable and secure deployment of today’s technology while supporting its necessary evolution into the future.

In this session we bridge the gap between technical and leadership teams to demystify digital governance and provide the keys for governance professionals to assist Boards in understanding their organization’s digital landscape, what areas to monitor, and how to effectively support digital transformation.

Speaker:

Kirsten Sutton ICD.D leads Kirsten Sutton Consulting, the more technical and equally tasty arm of Better Than a Ham Sandwich Productions. 
From a professionally trained chef, Kirsten navigated a significant career pivot to become one of Vancouver’s most celebrated tech execs with over 30 years’ experience in technology, software development and development operations as well as IT infrastructure and services including cyber security. 

Kirsten has held executive positions most recently as CTIO at Vancity Credit Union, driving transformational change and developing high performing, engaged teams. Before her appointment at Vancity, Kirsten spent 25 years at SAP across a variety of roles, her last as Managing Director for SAP Labs Canada, responsible for their 3000-strong development organization across the country.  
Apart from being regarded as an energetic, inspiring and authentic leader, Kirsten is a highly engaged community leader: Governor and past chair of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, past co-chair of the Government of  BC’s Presidents Group which champions accessible and inclusive workplaces, member of the Government of Canada’s Task Force for Women in the Economy, member of the BC Government’s Provincial Accessibility Committee, and director of Science World and York House School.

Kirsten’s background and skills have made her an invaluable board director specializing in digital disruption and transformation, cyber risk, board governance and leading thriving company cultures. 
A recipient of many awards, Kirsten has been recognized as a YWCA Woman of Distinction and received a Business in Vancouver Influential Women in Business award as well as Tech Culture of the Year from the BC Tech Association and YWCA’s Innovative Workplace Award. 

Kirsten unleashes her creativity through cooking and writing. She has created and served thousands of meals, published several short stories and theater productions as well as continues to plug away at a half-written novel.
