The BC Local Chapter is welcoming Annalisa King, Chair of the Board, Vancouver Airport Authority, and Corporate Director, for a presentation on "The Intersection of Strategy & Risk & Board Oversight".
For several years, Annalisa King has been the National Academic Director for a course at the Institute of Corporate Directors entitled Board Oversight of Strategy. Developed in partnership with CPA Canada, based on CPA Canada’s Overseeing Strategy: A Framework for Boards of Directors, this course helps directors constructively engage in the strategic oversight process. Coming out of the pandemic in recognition of the immense change companies were experiencing, Annalisa added a module to the course entitled, “The intersection of strategy and risk”. The intention of this module is to explore what has changed in strategy development and conversations in recent times, with these times being aptly described as the age of volatility. With threats such as climate, geo-political, intense disintermediation and change, companies need to assess their strategy in a different way, more frequently, and with a view to what is resilient and existential, more now than ever before.
How does the board engage, balancing its oversight role with management’s ownership? What do those conversations look like? What is the role of the corporate secretary/chief governance officer in supporting these conversations—working with both the Chair/Committee Chairs and Management to help ensure the discussion adds value.
Please join us online on May 13 from 12 to 1 PM PDT.
